Alaska by Land

Day 1 • Oak Lawn, IL: A lovely travel day starts our great adventure. A Welcome dinner is included tonight.

Day 2 • Eagan, MN: We will have lunch in the lovely Wisconsin Dells as we travel to our overnight stay near Eagan, MN. 

Day 3 • Winnipeg, MB: Stop for pictures at the Minnesota State Capitol as well as the Cathedral of St. Paul. Travel through North Dakota and into Canada today. (B)

Day 4 • Regina, SK: Enjoy Canada’s great prairie land en route to Regina, the capital of Saskatchewan. 

Day 5 • Edmonton, AB: Continue through the Great White North, stopping for photos at Our Lady of the Highway Shrine and the Ukranian Easter Egg Weather Vane in Vegreville. Then we will be entertained at the Mayfield Dinner Theater tonight.

Day 6 • Grande Prairie, AB: Today we are going to follow Highway 43 from Edmonton known as the Flag Route to Alaska. You will have a picture stop at the Rochfort Bridge Overlook prior to checking into our local hotel in Grand Prairie.

Day 7 • Fort Nelson, BC: Visit Dawson Creek, BC, today, hitting mile 0 of the Alaskan Highway. We also have a stop at Sasquatch Crossing Lodge in Pink Mountain, BC. You might even see a sighting of Sasquatch. 

Day 8 • Watson Lake, YT: Stop at Steamboat Mtn. Summit, Summit Pass, Folded Mountain and Muncho Lake today before a visit to Liard River Hot Springs with 120-degree water!

Day 9 • Whitehorse, YT: Check out the Sign Post Forest as we depart Watson Lake. Snap photos at the picturesque Nisutlin Bay Bridge and the world’s largest weathervane. Here, board the S.S. Klondike historic sternwheeler for a guided tour.

Day 10 • Dawson City, YT: Our frontier adventure takes us to Dawson City today. Dawson was originally laid out for a population of 30,000, it is now home to about 1,500 year-round residents. You may strike it rich today panning for gold.

Day 11 • Fairbanks, AK: Catch the George Black Ferry and take The Top of the World Highway. Cross the Canada-United States border at Poker Creek, continuing along the Taylor Highway to the town of Chicken. Enjoy a stop in North Pole.

Day 12 • River Cruise & City Tour: Board the sternwheeler Riverboat Discovery for a cruise on the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Learn firsthand about fishwheels, training for the Iditarod and native life at Chena Village. Enjoy free time to explore downtown Fairbanks and a delicious Alaskan salmonbake for dinner. (L, D)

Day 13 • Denali National Park, AK: Head for the highest peak on our continent, rising to 20,320 ft. Enjoy time on your own exploring the surrounding area.

Day 14 • Anchorage, AK: Board the Denali bus for a tour through Denali National Park. Anticipate seeing bears, caribou and maybe the mountain again! (B, BL)

Day 15 • Prince William Sound Glacier Cruise: Travel to Whittier where we enjoy a narrated glacier cruise through magnificent College Fjord. (B, L)

Day 16 • Wasilla AK: Enjoy sightseeing tour of the Alaska Wildlife, Begich Boggs Visitor Center, Lunch included, Salmon Viewing. Then we are off for a ride on Alyeska Aerial Tram to see breath-taking panoramic views of majestic mountains, hanging glaciers and sparkling streams. (B, L, D)

Day 17    Tok, AK: Today we will do a picture stop at the Church of 1000 Trees. Next, we are off to visit the Musk Ox Farm for a close up tour of this ice age mammal. Then after dinner included we will check into our local Tok hotel.

Day 18 • Whitehorse, YT: Today is a travel day as we go through the towns of Beaver Creek, Kluane National Park in Haines Junction with our final stop in Whitehorse. (B)

Day 19 • Skagway, AK: Board the White Pass & Yukon Route railroad for an amazing train ride. Arrive this afternoon in Skagway. Enjoy this fun-loving town on your own tonight.

Day 20 • Inside Passage Cruise: We start part of our Inside Passage cruise today. Arrive in Juneau for an overnight stay.

Day 21 • Juneau: After free time in the capital city, board the ferry for the evening. You will be in awe as we view islands of Alaska’s Inside Passage.

Day 22 • Scenic Cruise: Travel through the night with stops at Petersburg and an early morning stop in Wrangell. Sail through Ketchikan before disembarking from our cruise in Prince Rupert, BC, where we check in to our hotel.

Day 23 • Smithers, BC: At Ksan Historical Indian Village, learn about the natives with a local guide. Enjoy pictures stops at Hagwilget Canyon and Moricetown Falls and Canyon.

Day 24 • Jasper, AB: Enjoy a stop at Steelhead Park. You will have free time in Prince George, BC. Then we will drive through Jasper National Park to our overnight stay in Jasper. 

Day 25 • Calgary, AB:  We will make a stop at Athabasca Falls. Next we are off to marvel at the beauty of Lake Louise. Thrill to a glacier coach ride on the Columbia Ice Fields. Make a picture stop at the Athabascan Glacier. Enjoy dinner atop the Calgary Tower!

Day 26 • Regina, SK: We travel across southern Saskatchewan, stopping for photos at Chaplin Nature Center and the Potash Plant in Chaplin.

Day 27 • Winnipeg, MB: Tour the Royal Mounted Police Heritage Center. Stop at White Horse Monument.

Day 28 • Woodbury, MN: Enjoy a scenic travel day, stopping for some terrific photos along the way back to the states.

Day 29 • Rockford, IL: Travel to Illinois today and enjoy a farewell dinner. 

Day 30 • Home: Depart Illinois and be our guest for lunch. Arrive home tonight from our Alaskan adventure!
