Fall Trains and More

Day 1 • Romney, WV: Head to wonderful, wild West Virginia with us for this train-filled fall getaway in the Appalachian Mountains! Arrive this afternoon for a ride aboard the Potomac Eagle Scenic Train. Then, check into our hotel for the next four nights - Canaan Valley Resort. (L, D)

 

Day 2 • Cass Railroad: After a relaxing morning,our adventure takes us to the famous Cass Railroad for a 4 1/2 -hour excursion. Panoramas of the lofty Appalachians become more beautiful as the train climbs higher and higher. A King of the Road hobo lunch will be provided to your ride as well. Next we will have dinner included before we enjoy the Railyard Show. (B, L, D)

 

Day 3 • A full fun day:  The day starts of with the New Tygert Flyer.This is a 4 hour wilderness excursion that features mountain grades, an S curve tunnel, a high bridge and miles of unspoiled mountain views. This vintage diesel-powered passenger train has gained a reputation as one of the most relaxing mountain wilderness excursions. On the trip to the falls, enjoy a cold cut lunch while enjoying these spectacular views. After the train ride you will have time to visit The Appalachian Forest Discovery Center and the West Virginia Railroad Museum. Tonight, enjoy dinner and a show at the Gandy Dancer Theater. Day 4 • Durbin Rocket: After a scenic drive down the mountain, visit the National Radio Astronomy Observatory with lunch included. Blast off in the Durbin Rocket this afternoon aboard the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad. Experience a 2 hour ride that offers many beautiful river and mountain views in the Monongahela National Forest. Dinner will be included on our way back to our resort. (B, L, D)

 

Day 5  • Home: Get a glimpse of the breathtaking Blackwater Falls this morning at the Blackwater Trading Post, before we head for home from our exciting journey riding the rails of West Virginia! (B, L)
