The Best of Texas

Day 1 • Bowling Green, KY: We kick off our terrific Texas tour with overnight in Bowling Green.

 

Day 2 • Little Rock, AR: Mosey into Arkansas today, checking out a few presidential landmarks before overnight in the capital city. (B, L, D)

 

Day 3 • Houston: Yeehaw! Arrive in Texas this morning with overnight in Houston, the largest city in the state. (B)

 

Day 4 • San Antonio: Blast off to Space Center Houston this morning. Experience space exploration with a personal tram tour of NASA and time on your own to check out the exhibits. Spend the next two nights in San Antonio near the beautiful River Walk. (B)

 

Day 5 • San Antonio: Remeber The Alamo after our tour of the fascinating shrine of Texas. Enjoy the beauty of the city on your own this afternoon. Dinner will be included in the King William Historic District (B, D)

 

Day 6 • Austin: Today you will visit the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Park with a tour of the ranch. See for yourself why the capital of Texas is the fastest growing city in the U.S. on our visit to Austin, our home for two nights. This evening you have free time to experience South Congress Avenue. (B)

 

Day 7 • Trolley around the city: Embark on a guided tour of the Texas State Capitol building. Then, enjoy a hop on-hop off trolley ride around Austin for the day. (B, D)

 

Day 8 •  Lone Star fun: Today in Waco we will vist Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and then you will have lunch and free time on your own at The Magnolia Market at the Silo's. This is part of Chip and Joanna Gaines HGTV show "Fixer Upper."  Then we are off to Fort Worth to the city of cowboys and culture to catch the longhorn cattle drive and have dinner. (B, D)

 

Day 9 • Grapevine:  You will get to spend time in charming downtown Grapevine, TX, with one of a kind shops and The Glockenspiel Clock Tower. Then it is off to a guided tour of Dallas including highlights like Old Red Courthouse, Pioneer Plaza, city hall, the historic district and more. We check in to our Dallas hotel for the next two nights. (B)

 

Day 10 • Dallas:  History is the buzzword today as we visit the Sixth Floor Museum, which chronicles the assassination and legacy of JFK. We also tour the George W. Bush Presidential Library. (B, D)

 

Day 11 • Fort Smith, AR: Begin our day with a tram and mansion tour of Southfork Ranch, made famous on the TV hit Dallas. Then, visit the Fort Smith National Historic Site and see the courtroom of the Hanging Judge. We overnight near Fort Smith, AR. (B, L, D)

 

Day 12 • Effingham, IL: Drive through Missouri with a view of the beautiful Ozark Mountains for overnight in Effingham. (B, L)

 

Day 13 • Home: Return home tonight with memories from deep in the heart of Texas! (B)
