Thunder Bay Elk Journey

Day 1 • Thunder Bay: We head north for our tour featuring majestic elk and the beauty of fall in the Great Lake State. Our home for the next two nights is Thunder Bay Resort, known for its elk, dining and charming atmosphere. (D)

Day 2 • Lighthouses and Elk: This morning, enjoy a tour of the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, which preserves nearly 200 historic shipwrecks from the area. Visit Old Presque Isle Lighthouse. It overlooks Lake Huron and is one of the oldest surviving lighthouses on the Great Lakes. Then, see the keeper’s home at the New Presque Isle Lighthouse, just a few miles up the road. We will return back to our resort. Then after a gourmet dinner at our resort, enjoy a breath-taking horse-drawn carriage ride into the Elk Preserve where you get an up close look at majestic bull elk while soaking in the natural beauty. Day 3 • Mackinaw Island: Travel to charming Mackinac Island this morning above the high-speed ferry. Then, embar on a horse-drawn carriage ride of the town. Remember, there are no motor vehicles here! Enjoy a truly grand lunch buffet at the famous Grand Hotel. After a free afternoon to explore the island, return to Mackinaw City to check in to our hotel. Day 4 • Home: Depart Michigan this morning, arriving home this evening relaxed from our resort adventure and step back in time on lovely Mackinac Island. (B)
