Journey to the historic highway’s starting point at Buckingham Fountain in Chicago. From here, learn all about the Windy City on a guided tour followed by dinner at an iconic city pizza joint. Overnight in Burr Ridge, IL. (D)

Day 2 • Litchfield, IL: In Pontiac, IL, get a look at the state’s history with the famous roadway at the Route 66 Hall of Fame. Then, enjoy the guided Jolly Trolley Tour of the town followed by lunch and free time. Dinner tonight is at the oldest café on Route 66. Spend the night in Litchfield. (B, L, D)

Day 3 • Springfield, MO: Take a tram to the top of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis this morning and a sightseeing cruise of the city. Day 6 • Clinton, OK: Chandler’s Route 66 Interpretive Center is not your typical museum. Emphasizing the life that the roadway instills into American communities, the center takes travelers through a “drive” from the 1920s to today. We’re in for a real treat today with lunch at the landmark Pops, known for its collection of soda pop bottles and wide variety of beverages. At the National Route 66 Museum in Elk City, you can immerse yourself in Americana. Overnight in Clinton. (B, L, D)
