  - The orphanage was originally established to care for children who lost their parents in the Civil War. However, tales of mistreatment and cruelty, particularly under the supervision of Rosa Carmichael, have led to lingering ghost stories. The guided tour typically includes stories of the orphanage's dark history, paranormal experiences, and a walk through the damp, unsettling basement where much of the hauntings are said to occur. Mostly on foot. Some walking required.
